A Bronx man was arrested by Suffolk County police on Wednesday for his role in an alleged international human trafficking ring that went through Suffolk County.
Police say Erick Acevedo transported women to hotels and collected money from them for over the past three years. Police discovered the alleged trafficked women while surveilling the Roadway Inn in Huntington Station between March and September 2022, where they saw women they believed to be trafficking victims.
The 36-year-old was arrested at his home in the Bronx around 10:35 a.m.
Authorities believe the human trafficking operation has ties elsewhere- including in the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Florida and possibly other states. Â
Acevedo was issued a desk appearance ticket and will be arraigned on a later date. He is charged with promoting prostitution and conspiracy.
Detectives are asking victims of the human trafficking ring or anyone with knowledge of the case to call Human Trafficking Unit detectives at 631-854-7512 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
