Tu B’Shevat was celebrated with energy, meaning and plenty of loud, proud Amens across the JEC Lower School, as students in every grade engaged in hands-on learning that brought the day’s themes to life.
In grades third through fifth, students put their knowledge to the test in a spirited Brachos Bee, demonstrating impressive mastery of brachot while cheering one another on. The event blended healthy competition with joyful Torah learning, reinforcing the importance of mindfulness and gratitude in everyday eating.

Younger students celebrated in equally meaningful ways. Early childhood and first and second graders enjoyed a joyful Amen-themed birthday party for the ilanot in honor of Tu B’Shevat. Students decorated beautiful Al HaMichya cards to be used in their classrooms after snack time, created fun Fruit Loop necklaces, and continued strengthening the habit and significance of saying Amen. Each class made brachot on a variety of foods, practicing the different brachot and responding together with enthusiasm and pride.

Across the school, Tu B’Shevat was more than a date on the calendar: it was a shared experience of learning, gratitude and celebration!
