Queen Camilla adores her five grandkids, all of whom call her “Gaga.”To honor them, the Queen wore a necklace recently that featured her own birthstone—ruby—and the initials of her grandkids engraved into the pendant. The necklace is “Perhaps the Queen’s most personal piece of jewelry,” Tatler reported.

Queen Camilla, known as “Gaga” to her five grandchildren, is keeping her grandkids close to her heart—literally.

On February 3, the Queen attended a reception at St. James’s Palace for local and regional government employees in communities across the U.K. wearing a ruby necklace with a sentimental meaning. Wearing a black mididress from Fiona Clare—long a favorite designer of Camilla’s—with lace detailing around the neckline, front, and sleeves, the royal accessorized with a string of pearls and what Tatler called a hidden second necklace that doubles as “Perhaps the Queen’s most personal piece of jewelry.”

The necklace features a ruby on one side—representing Camilla’s July birthstone—and on the other side, the initials of her five grandchildren are engraved. Camilla has three grandsons and two granddaughters, the children of her children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes, whom she shares with ex-husband Andrew Parker Bowles. The pendant features the letters L, F, G, L, and E, which stands for her grandkids’ names of Lola, Freddy, Gus, Eliza, and Louis.

“You know the nice thing about being a grandmother is that you can spoil them occasionally, give them more of the things that their parents forbid them to have,” Camilla told British Vogue in 2022. “The girls are beginning to get into clothes and makeup and, you know, it’s rather frightening when you see them, coming out with pierced ears and a lot of new makeup and funny-colored hair and stuff.”

King Charles, too, is adored by Camilla’s grandkids, with Camilla telling The Daily Mail that the monarch “reads them Harry Potter,” adding that “he does all the voices, because he is a brilliant mimic. They sit spellbound.”

Sara Parker Bowles—Camilla’s former daughter-in-law who was married to Tom from 2005 to 2018 and with whom she shares Lola and Freddy—told The Times of Charles and Camilla’s 2023 coronation that Camilla was “really, really nervous. She wanted the people that she loved around her. [The King] wasn’t nervous at all. But Camilla didn’t ask for any of this.”

“She’s the human face of the royal family, because she’s not part of it,” she added. “You need those outsiders, really.”

While speaking on the U.K. talk show Lorraine, Sara said of Camilla, “She’s an amazing granny. She’s really hands-on, and she’s really into it.”

“She wants to know everything that they’re into,” Sara added. “She loves jewelry and she’s really knowledgeable about it. Lola is obsessed as well, so they always chat about that.”

Of Camilla’s ever-evolving style, “I think she’s having fun with it, and I think it really shows,” Sara said. “It’s evolved naturally, and she’s a perfect example of someone who’s sort of eased into their style and feels confident and sticks to what they know. I think that’s a really good way to go.”

In addition to honoring her grandkids through her jewelry, the Queen also honored her beloved dogs recently in the form of a brooch. While visiting Christ Church Primary School in London recently to open its library, Camilla wore a $8,900 brooch from Van Cleef and Arpels set in 18-carat yellow gold, mother of pearl, and onyx in the shape of a pup.
