An Atlanta man died in a skiing accident this week, authorities in New York reported.
A press release by the New York State Police said that on Wednesday morning, friends who’d been skiing with 44-year-old Michael E. Vacek Jr. reported him missing after he failed to return from the trails.
Whiteface Mountain Ski Patrol teams eventually found him in a tree line along the Upper/Lower Skyward Trail.

He was transported to a medical building where life-saving measures were performed by local first responders, but he did not survive.
