STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The FDNY extinguished another fire in the dangerous cold on Sunday, this time at a home in Tompkinsville.

The fire was first reported in the basement of a two-story home located at 362 Victory Blvd. at 10:43 a.m., according to a spokesperson from the FDNY.

As real-feel temperatures on Staten Island were well below zero, 21 units and 79 fire and EMS personnel brought the blaze under control by 11:16 a.m.

No injuries were reported from the blaze, according to the spokesperson.

In video posted on Citizen, firefighters could be seen lining the road on Victory Boulevard, between Cebra Avenue and Austin Place while working to get the basement fire under control.

Earlier on Sunday, an apartment fire in Graniteville drew a similarly sized response from the FDNY.

In that blaze, four people were evaluated for injuries and one firefighter was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton.

This weekend, the borough’s FDNY crews drew high praise from Mayor Zohran Mamdani for their ongoing work during the extreme cold.

Mamdani and Fire Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore visited the Engine 168/EMS Station 23 at 1100 Rossville Ave., bringing staff pizza and praising the department’s efforts in responding to emergencies while weathering the wind chill, snow and ice.
