Moore Catholic fell 58–53 to Xaverian High School (CHSAA AAA) in the Think Pink Showcase at Archbishop Molloy HS on Saturday afternoon.
Olivia Bruno-Dunn led the Mavericks with 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Emma Bruno-Dunn added 11 points and six rebounds, while Mackenzie Felci finished with eight points and 10 rebounds. Emma Costanzo contributed seven points as Moore Catholic used a balanced effort throughout the contest.
“I’m really proud of how the girls played against a tough Xaverian team,” said Moore Catholic assistant coach Amanda Henderson.
“I thought Olivia Bruno-Dunn played a great game hitting a lot of big shots. Veronica Barbato also gave us a spark and hit some big shots when we needed them. Emma Bruno-Dunn and Emma Costanzo did a great job leading the offense, and Mackenzie Felci played a solid all-around game. We played as a team and fought to the end.”
The loss moves the Mavericks to 14–5 overall and 9–0 in CHSAA AA league play. Moore Catholic will face St. John’s Prep tomorrow in Queens before returning home Wednesday, February 11, for Senior Night against Bishop Loughlin.
