Work continues on Route 13 Connector Road

SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. (WENY) — New York announced Wednesday a $600 million investment in over 180 road projects across the state.

State officials say the projects, which will total almost 2,150 lane miles is a “historic investment” and is the most “ambitious annual road resurfacing agenda ever put forward by NYSDOT.”

“Next year, we will be making an unprecedented investment to improve state roads across New York,” said Governor Kathy Hochul. “New Yorkers will be seeing crews out there like never before next year, rejuvenating highways, enhancing the safety of the traveling public, and laying a solid foundation for economic development across the Empire State.”

Some of the projects announced Wednesday are already underway. Below is a full list of road projects announced in the Southern Tier by the state:

$11.5 million to resurface Route 13 in Ithaca, Dryden, Cayuga Heights and Lansing

$7 million to resurface I-86 between Horseheads and Elmira

$2.9 million to resurface Route 89 in Ithaca and Ulysses

$1.6 million to resurface Route 352 between Gibson and the Corning Hospital

$1.5 million to resurface I-86 between Bath and Savona

$950,000 to overlay Route 228 and a small portion of 227 between Hector and Perry City

$995,000 to overlay Route 224 between Odessa and Alpine Junction

$800,000 to resurface Route 227 in Schuyler County

$650,000 to resurface Route 417 between Greenwood and Jasper

$650,000 to resurface Route 14 from Montour Falls to Watkins Glen

$580,000 to resurface Route 248 from Canisteo to the Steuben & Allegany County line

These projects are in addition to already planned roadwork scheduled to take place in the region next year.
