On February 8, 2026, State Police with the assistance of the Watervliet Police Department arrested a 14-year-old for:
Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd, a class “D” felonyReckless Endangerment, 2nd, a class “A” misdemeanorCriminal Mischief 4th, a class “A” misdemeanor
A 15-year-old was also arrested for:
Grand Larceny 3rd, a class “D” felonyCriminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd, a class “D” felony
On February 8, 2026, at about 9:26 a.m. Troopers responded to the Walmart parking lot on Hoosick Road in Brunswick for the report of a stolen SUV. Troopers patrolled the area attempting to locate the stolen vehicle and at approximately 10:39 a.m. troopers observed it driving on North Pearl Street in Watervliet. A traffic stop was attempted, when the vehicle failed to comply a pursuit was initiated, which was terminated by troopers shortly after when they lost sight of the vehicle. At 10:53 a.m., the vehicle was located by the Watervliet Police Department after crashing into another vehicle in the area of 2nd Street. The 14-year-old was identified as the driver, and the 15-year-old as a passenger; both were taken into custody.
During further investigation, it was determined that while the pair was reportedly operating the stolen vehicle in the area of North Pearl Street in Albany, the 15-year-old allegedly stole an additional vehicle. That vehicle was located abandoned less than a block away from where it was stolen.
Both juveniles were transported to SP Latham for processing. They were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Albany County Family Court and released to their guardians.
