Shaun White won his first gold medal in 2006 in men’s snowboard halfpipe at the Turino Olympics.
He’s returned to the same country exactly 20 years and five Olympics later with even more gold medals to his name. White’s appearance at the Milan Cortina Games has many asking if the Olympian is competing once again.
For the first time since 2002, the three-time Olympic gold medalist will be watching the events rather than competing in the Winter Games.

Then he joined Mary Carillo and Terry Gannon in the broadcast booth during the Parade of Athletes at the Opening Ceremony.
White’s snowboarding days are behind him, at least professionally. He was spotted in Central Park last month during after a monster snow storm his New York City.
The 39-year-old officially retired from competition four years ago.
