If you were impacted by the 23andMe data breach, the deadline is approaching to submit a claim for a payout in a settlement.

Millions of 23andMe customers are expected to receive a payout from the $50 million settlement after a customer data security breach occurred in October 2023. This cyberattack resulted in the theft of personal information for approximately 6.4 million United States residents.

The deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 17, to submit a claim form. Here’s what to know about the deadline and if you are eligible.

You are eligible to submit a claim if you:

Were a 23andMe customer at any time between May 1, 2023, through Oct. 1, 2023Resided in the United States during this timeReceived notice from 23andMe that your personal information was compromised.

You may be eligible for a cash payment and other benefits from the class action settlement, such as up to $10,000 for extraordinary claims; up to $165 for health information claims; and estimated $100 for statutory cash claims; and five years of privacy and medical shield, plus genetic monitoring.

You must submit a claim by Feb. 17 to receive a cash payment and to pre-enroll in the privacy and medical shield, plus genetic monitoring.
