STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A large number of NYPD personnel are responding to a residential area of Annadale on Thursday morning.

The buildup began around 5 a.m. in the vicinity of Arden and Edgegrove avenues, according to emergency radio communications.

A suspicious item was reported at the location, but authorities have not confirmed what it is, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

The incident is under investigation, according to a spokeswoman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
