ONEONTA, N.Y. — State Sen. Peter Oberacker is taking steps to address high utility bills.

Oberacker, who is running for New York’s 19th Congressional District seat, has proposed the NYS Ratepayer Bill of Rights.

He described it as a plan to hold utility companies accountable and guarantee core protections for New Yorkers.

Oberacker is encouraging people on social media to sign his petition in support of the proposal.

He is challenging Democratic incumbent Josh Riley in the congressional race.
