STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Two Staten Island nurses rescued a French bulldog that had been abandoned at their Brooklyn hospital and reunited the canine with its owners last week.

A dog-loving Brooklyn couple was heartbroken when a crew of four bandits took the dog, Coco Chanel, along with other valuables, during a home invasion, The Post reported.

The armed bandits then dumped the dog in a parking lot at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where Staten Islander Amy O’Sullivan and her wife, Tiffany Latz, are known for their love of animals.

Latz took the dog into the hospital from the frigid temperatures for safety, then alerted O’Sullivan to pick it up.

A hospital staffer then recognized the dog from a Post report about the robbery and let Latz her know its story.

The dog’s owners were able to come to the Staten Island couple’s home late Monday, Feb. 9, for a heartfelt reunion with their 2-year-old pup, The Post reported.

“I missed you!” Coco’s owner, Kevin, swooned while kissing and petting Coco, the report said. “I was devastated. My heart just broke down. I was like, thank God. It was right the next day. I was so emotional.”

“I was so happy because you found her,” he told O’Sullivan, the report continued. “To know that your kid is gone. I come home everyday to her. Just thinking how long it is going to take to find her.”

During the robbery, the gang of four armed bandits broke into the Brooklyn couple’s home, demanded valuables and made off with the bulldog and $8,000 in Pokémon cards, the Post story said.

“She saw the Post story and was like, ‘Oh my God. That’s the dog!’” O’Sullivan told the Post. “That’s how the ball got rolling.”

The 62-year-old mother of three, O’Sullivan owns five pets, including a paralyzed French bulldog, the Post reported. She said the frightened dog wouldn’t eat dog food when she got him home, so she served him tuna and oatmeal.

O’Sullivan has been recognized for her exceptional work in the hospital’s emergency room during the COVID-19 pandemic and was named one of Time Magazine’s Top 100 influential people of 2020.

Listed beside leaders such as Dr. Anthony Fauci, President Donald Trump and then-presidential candidate Joe Biden, along with icons such as Angela Davis, Naomi Osaka and dozens of others, O’Sullivan told SILive.com at the time that she “could not believe” she received the honor.

The four Brooklyn home invaders were still on the loose late Tuesday, according to the report Saturday, Feb. 14.
