STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Four of the five Staten Island PSAL boys’ varsity basketball teams who qualified for the city playoffs will play first-round games at home when the postseason opens next week, the Advance/SILive.com has learned.
Susan Wagner (17-9), the lone Island team to earn a spot in the PSAL 4A playoffs, earned the No. 9 seed and will host No. 24 DeWitt Clinton on Feb. 27 beginning at 5 p.m.
The winner of that contest will advance to the second round and will visit Eagle Academy III of Queens on March 3.
Eagle Academy II of Brooklyn earned the No. 1 seed. There are 24 teams competing in the 4A playoffs.
Each of the Island’s four PSAL 3A teams, meanwhile, will open postseason play on Feb. 26.
Staten Island PSAL 3A regular-season champion New Dorp (17-6) earned the Island’s lowest seed at No. 12 and will entertain No. 21 Newtown (5 p.m.).
No. 13 McKee/Staten Island Tech (17-9) will host No. 20 Franklin K. Lane (6 p.m.); No. 16 Tottenville (15-10) will welcome No. 17 Evander Childs (5 p.m.) and No. 31 CSI/McCown (12-13) will trek to the Bronx to visit No. 2 Truman (5 p.m.).
Westinghouse of Brooklyn landed the No. 1 seed in the 3A division. There are 32 teams competing in the 3A division.
The 3A second-round playoffs will take place March 2.
