A massive sinkhole opened up Tuesday in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, swallowing a dump truck.

Ironically, the dump truck was in the neighborhood to help repair another sinkhole that opened up Monday. Cellphone video shows crews using heavy machinery to lighten the truck’s load as it sat wedged in the middle of the street.

Desiree Page, who lives on the street, decided to evacuate after seeing the scene unfold and ending up with no heat because of the incident.

“Honestly I am still in shock – that is not something you hear at all,” she told NBC New York.

“There’s no anything,” Page went on to say. “I have kids. There’s no heat, no water, nothing – they’re telling everyone to head out if they need to.”

Firefighters went door-to-door Wednesday to assist in voluntary evacuations, alerting families in the area to a nearby warming center as the township investigates what exactly happened.

“We brought in ground radar last night and more issues exposed themselves to our engineers,” Phillipsburg Mayor Randy Piazza said.

“There were some water main repairs in the past… that’s one area we’re looking at, but the actual reason has yet to be discovered,” he said.

According to Piazza, seven homes have been deemed unsafe, and dozens more are without water or power.

It is still unclear how long repairs will take, but neighbors are growing increasingly concerned more sinkholes could be found.

“It looks crazy, man,” resident Tyreek McBryde said. “It’s something unheard of!”
