STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The NYPD is investigating after a gun was discharged early Thursday morning in West Brighton.

Officers responded at about 12:55 a.m. to a report of two rounds fired at street level in the rear of 810 Henderson Ave. near Alaska Street, according to a spokeswoman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

The address provided by police is in the West Brighton Houses, a city Housing Authority complex.

Officers searched the location and found one cartridge casing behind the building, indicating that a shot was fired, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

No injuries or property damage was reported. A description for the suspect is not yet available, the police spokeswoman said.
