SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The YMCA of Central New York will host Healthy Aging Day on Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at all YMCA branches across Central New York. The free community event promotes wellness, connection, and lifelong health for people of all ages.
Healthy Aging Day celebrates the importance of staying active and engaged at every stage of life. Non-members are encouraged to join the YMCA that day for a special $14 join fee and $14 for the month of October, along with a Buy One, Get One offer on single-session personal training.
“We want to empower people to live well and stay connected to their community, no matter their age or stage of life,” said Stefanie Noble, Vice President of Marketing and Communication for the YMCA of Central New York. “Healthy Aging Day is a chance to check in on your health, learn something new, and connect with others who share your goals.”
Participants will have access to free health screenings, wellness workshops on topics such as brain health, fall prevention, and nutrition, as well as fitness demonstrations for all ability levels. Educational talks and resources on financial planning and community engagement will also be available.
According to the YMCA, more than 10,000 people in the U.S. turn 65 every day — a number expected to reach 120 million adults aged 55 and older by 2040. Events like Healthy Aging Day aim to reduce isolation among older adults and foster healthier, more connected communities.
