STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Saturday that New Yorkers should brace themselves for the winter storm set to start Sunday.
The mayor said the city could get hit with over 20 inches of snow from the first blizzard the city has seen in close to a decade, and that his administration is expecting it to be worse that January’s Winter Storm Fern.
“I am asking all Nee Yorkers to stay inside and off the roads for your safety,” Mamdani said. “These have the potential to be even more hazardous conditions than we faced the last time around.”
Mamdani has yet to make a final decision on the closure of city schools but has taken a number or preparation measures ahead of the storm.
