New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe is going to be placed on Injured Reserve after having a second procedure on his injured thumb, according to multiple reports.
As Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports, the team will continue to evaluate his recovery and have not ruled him out for the season at this point.
The injury was suffered in a fight with Ryan Reaves of the San Jose Sharks earlier in the season, and caused Rempe to miss 24 games. He returned for a month and a half, but will now take more time to get fully healthy as the Rangers sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings at 22-29-6.
Rempe, 23, has one goal in 26 games this season. The towering 6-foot-9 enforcer has played in 85 games since making his NHL debut in 2023-24, and has five goals and 11 points in his career.
