STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Two big snowfalls too close for comfort? A marred commute for workers? Complaints about a mayoral response? It’s winter in Staten Island — just 10 years ago.

The massive winter storm set to hit Staten Island Sunday into Monday got the Advance/SILive.com thinking about snowfalls of years’ past — in particular 2016, which was the last time our borough saw blizzard conditions.

That’s when Winter Storm Jonas brought record-setting snowfall from Jan. 22 to Jan. 24 across the five boroughs, dropping close to 30 inches of the white stuff on the Big Apple.

Another winter storm a few weeks later in February 2016 brought more snowfall to the region, making for one of the toughest winters in recent memory — until this year’s.

After last month’s Winter Storm Fern brought about a foot of snow to neighborhoods across the five boroughs, the snowfall set to kick off Sunday could bring as much as 24 inches to the city.

It remains to be seen what comes of this latest storm, but here’s some of what our photographers captured back in 2016:
