QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A man accused of chopping off a dog owner’s fingers with a machete has been arrested for killing a woman in a hit-and-run in Queens last year, police said Sunday.

Timothy Bohler, 31, was riding a motorcycle when he allegedly hit and killed Lelawattie Narine, 52, near 114th Street and Liberty Avenue at 8:35 p.m. on March 22, 2024, according to the NYPD.

Narine was found lying on the street with a severe head injury and taken to the hospital in critical condition, cops said. She died on April 9, 2024.

Bohler fell off the 2023 Jiajue motorcycle after the collision before getting up and running off, police said. The suspect did not have a license, and the bike was not registered, authorities alleged.

Surveillance video and forensic evidence tied Bohler to the crime, and he was arrested on Thursday, according to an NYPD spokesperson. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, aggravated unlicensed operator, operating a motor vehicle without inspection, operating an unregistered Vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to exercise due care, police said.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges at his arraignment.

Bohler has a lengthy list of arrests for violent crimes, including rape, robbery, and assault, cops said.

The defendant is accused of chopping off a man’s fingers during a machete attack outside a bodega near 2001 Southern Blvd. in the Bronx on Jan. 24, 2025, according to authorities.

Bohler allegedly became upset about a dog barking and not being on a leash and threatened the dog with a machete, police said. That’s when the owner, Tayquon Young, 35, jumped in to defend the pup.

“He swings the machete, and I went to grab it,” recalled Young, who lost four fingers while saving his dog during the attack.

Doctors were unable to reattach Young’s four severed fingers, and they were amputated in February. Young was reunited with his dog at the hospital and found comfort in her presence.

“I’m blessed to have her here, and I’m blessed to be here to tell the story,” Young previously told PIX11 News.

Bohler was charged with several counts of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a knife, according to court records. He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the case is still pending.
