The Beckhams seem to be sending a pointed message to their estranged eldest son, as a source maintains Victoria is lifting David out of the ‘doom and gloom’BECKHAMs

David and Victoria are putting on a united front and supporting their kids

As the gulf between Brooklyn Beckham and his famous family widens, his parents are dealing with the devastating fallout the way they do best – by putting on a united front and making sure they send a strong yet loving message to their eldest son.

“This is the only way they know how to deal with it,” a source tells new. “They want to show Brooklyn and everyone else that they’re one unit, and this rift won’t break them. David and Victoria want to show how much they adore their kids and are supportive – and that all of their careers are their own choices.”

But it’s not just David and Victoria putting on a show of unity. As their youngest son Cruz, 21, prepared to kick off his first big UK tour with his band The Breakers last Wednesday, he reminded proud mum Victoria that she is always in his thoughts.

Giving fans a sneak peek into the set-up for the Birmingham gig on Instagram, he included a cheeky tribute to his mother, aka Posh Spice, by sharing a clip of his in-ear monitor labels – including Stoney Spice, Smokey Spice, Coffee Spice and Hairy Spice – and looped the Spice Girls’ hit, Say You’ll Be There over the top.

Cruz’s close bond with his mum has previously sparked rumours of reunion talks for Victoria’s band. At the end of last year, mother and son sent the internet into meltdown with their living room duet of Viva Forever.

Then, on 5 February, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Melanie Chisholm gathered at the family’s London home, where Cruz picked up his guitar for another acoustic take on the Spice Girls favourite, leading to more fan frenzy.

As for proud dad David, he’s also nurturing close bonds with his brood. As well as enjoying tennis sessions with Romeo, 23, he recently spent a week in the French Alps with daughter Harper, 14.

He shared snaps from their trip to Courchevel, as well as a clip in which he can be heard giggling as Harper glides down a slope on her back.

The source says, “They are putting on a united front. Each parent is spending quality time with each child. They won’t let what’s happened with Brooklyn repeat itself, so they’re trying to learn and support each other.

“David goes skiing with Harper, Romeo and David are playing tennis, Victoria has Cruz performing at home with her mates – they share that musical connection. So really they’re in crisis mode. They’re going all out to unite and support the kids and prevent them siding with Brooklyn or doing what he did.”

According to the source, David needs to be lifted “out of the doom and gloom” – and that job is falling to Victoria, who is remaining more positive and trying to “keep it all together”.

But sadly, they maintain that Harper is the one who’s been hit hardest by the bitter feud that has seen her estranged from her big brother, who she adores.

On Valentine’s Day, she hinted at her heartache in an Instagram Story featuring a black-and-white photo of her and her three older brothers. It was captioned, “Happy Valentine’s Day to the best big brothers in the whole wide world x.” The post, set to Fergie’s song Big Girls Don’t Cry, was later reposted by Victoria.

“Harper has taken it the worst,” the source said. “She was very close to Brooklyn and this has been very hard on her. David took her away for a bit to get her out of the house. But at home, they’re still doing everything together. It’s a subtle message to Brooklyn that they’re united as family – always here for him, and for each other.”

While they may be doing their best to send the message that it’s business as usual, the family must surely still be reeling from Brooklyn’s explosive statement over a month ago now.

In it, he accused his parents of controlling his life and creating what he described as “performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships”.

The 26-year-old claimed he was “standing up for myself for the first time in my life” after feeling that his wife Nicola Peltz had been disrespected over their first wedding dance.

While David and Victoria have still not responded publicly to his comments, they haven’t run from the scrutiny either.

Both have continued to post regularly on social media, including sweet nods to Brooklyn, and have remained united, very much visible and protectively backed up by their three younger children.

If their latest social media posts are the subtle messages they seem to be – about adoring their children and supporting them on their own paths – let’s hope they don’t fall on deaf ears when it comes to Brooklyn.
