STONY BROOK, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Men’s Lacrosse team (1-4) fell to the Seawolves of Stony Brook University (2-3) by a score of 15-6 inside Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After surrendering the first three goals of the game within the first eight minutes, the Jaspers were able to find the back of the net with Thomas White moments after the Green and White called a timeout.
With the Seawolves committing a pushing penalty, the Jaspers attempted two shots by Sean Shelko and Aiden Kane before the opposition cleared, on the man advantage.
To open the second quarter, the Jaspers found their rhythm with Thomas White scoring the next two goals to bring Manhattan’s deficit to just two.
Down the stretch with the home team threatening, goalie Ethan Barlag came up strong with three saves in the final four minutes to keep the score as is.
Late in the third quarter, the Jaspers found the back of the net courtesy of White, again, to cut the deficit to ten.
In the fourth quarter, trading shots were the Jaspers and Seawolves alike, including two Bryce Morris saves between the pipes in the first seven minutes.
Finding the back of the net for a sixth time was White with four seconds remaining in the game.
STATS AND NOTES
Sophomore midfielder Thomas White found the back of the net six times for a new single-game and career high. White logged nine shots, with eight on goal, while picking up five ground balls in the contest.
Casey Klossner grabbed a game-high 10 groundballs and earned 12 faceoff victories in the X in 23 tries.
Jack Miller logged one assist on two shots and one on target in the game.
Connor Engel recorded four shots with two on goal and picked up four ground balls. Additionally, Engel caused one turnover.
Aiden Kane registered four shots with one on target, while picking up three ground balls and causing one turnover.
