Trick or Treating will be celebrated on Friday in New York State in almost every town and maybe even Thursdays in addition when it comes to Beggars Night, but is there soon to be a law of kids being banned from trick or treating?

In Chesapeake, Virginia 14 and and older are banned. Or in Sandusky, Ohio, 12 and older is banned. It is something that some parents have been calling for in New York State and it always becomes a debate: what age is too old to trick or treat and should there be rules against it?

You have heard it before when you went to a house to trick or treat before: ‘aren’t you a little too old to be trick or treating?’ someone passing out candy will tell you. Some people don’t like older kids that are trick or treating because they say that it encourages them to be out and cause havoc–ding dong ditching or pumpkin smashing.

There are some towns and villages that are now LIMITING how old you can be to trick or treat and it’s absolutely ridiculous. Who cares? Let them have fun. Yeah, I’m sure some of them run off and don’t say thank you, but let kids have fun while they’re kids.

In Chesapeake, Virginia a fine can be given to anyone over the age of 14 trick-or-treating”, according to their laws.Upper Deerfield Township, New Jersey the cut off age is 12 years old.
Charleston, South Carolina the limit is 16 years old.

On the New York State website, it says:

Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult while trick-or-treating. In fact, New York State even mentions kids that are ‘older’ in its guidance about what they should do:

Older, responsible children should review their route with an adult and agree on a time to return home.
