New York Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck may be on the move before Friday’s trade deadline, but it appears his future remains in the Eastern Conference.

Trocheck told Vince Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic on Monday that is winning is a priority when it comes to his next team, but so is staying in the East.

“It’s no secret. [West teams] are on my no-trade list,” Trocheck said.

While Trocheck cannot veto the entire Western Conference, his 12-team no-trade list could eliminate all of the potential suitors for him. Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan said Monday that sitting Trocheck in anticipation of a trade has not been considered by the team to this point.

Just had a good, open convo with Vincent Trocheck, who very much realizes a trade could be coming. He said winning is a priority for his next destination and he confirmed that he prefers to stay east. “It’s no secret. (West teams) are on my no-trade list.” #NYR

Trocheck is listed at No. 2 on the TSN Trade Bait board, behind only Calgary Flames veteran Nazem Kadri. The Minnesota Wild have been among the teams reported to be interested in Trocheck.

The 32-year-old centre has 12 goals and 38 points in 45 games with the Rangers this season.

He is currently in the fourth season of a seven-year, $39.375 million contract that carries an annual cap hit of $5.625 million. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2028-29 campaign.

Drafted 64th overall by the Florida Panthers in 2011, Trocheck has 234 goals and 611 points in 840 career games split between the Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes, and Rangers.

The Pittsburgh native is coming off a gold medal with the United States at The Winter Olympic Games in Italy. He also represented his country at last year’s 4 Nations Face-Off in a second-place finish.

The Rangers placed themselves as clear sellers with an open letter to fans in January and moved star winger Artemi Panarin to the Los Angeles Kings just ahead of the Olympic roster freeze.
