NY1 has learned that City Council Member Vickie Paladino is facing disciplinary proceedings for recent Islamophobic social media posts, including calls for the “expulsion of Muslims from western nations.”
The council’s Standards and Ethics committee voted to charge the Queens Republican for violating its anti-harassment and discrimination policy.
Paladino has until the end of the week to formally respond.
It’s not yet clear what consequences she could face, but any recommendation from the Ethics Committee would need support from two-thirds of the full council.
