vs. Georgia Southern
CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College softball team has endured plenty of drama in their last two home doubleheaders, entertaining Queens on Tuesday afternoon and coming up short in a pair of tightly-contested matchups (6-3 and 10-7 in extra innings).
Twice in six days, the Blue Hose have played a game beyond seven innings on their home turf, but unlike last week’s sweep over North Carolina A&T, it was the visitors who had the final say and walked out of Clinton with the victory.
Both sides slugged very well in a non-conference series that is now four years running, although PC could not combat a Queens lineup that homered six times in the two-parter.
The Blue Hose and their Charlotte-based opponent have had one game go to eight innings in three straight seasons. The Royals scored the final four runs of the first bout and punched a Game Two grand slam to end the nightcap on a 7-0 flurry.
Presbyterian now has their sights set on the last mid-year tournament of 2026, as they will go to the Sunshine State to play five games from Friday to Sunday. They’ll compete against Georgia Southern twice and play a single game with Jacksonville, North Florida, and Southern Miss.

NOTABLES
Â
– Head coach David Williams‘ crew had some exquisite hitting moments in Tuesday’s DH, including a two-run triple by shortstop Baxleigh Arnette in Game One and a solo bomb by catcher Logan Grice in the rematch.
– The Blue Hose managed 16 hits and 10 runs over the course of those two games, but were outscored 12-1 collectively after the 5th inning.
– Arnette, Avery Robinson, and Blair Darby piled up six RBI between them while Presby committed just one error in 15 frames.
– Queens two-way talent Lindsay Henson was the MVP of the doubleheader, combining for seven hits, three home runs, and a double. She also pitched the entirety of Game One and escaped a bases-loaded scenario with no outs in the 6th inning.
Â
GAME ONE – Queens def. Presbyterian, 6-3
Â
– An identical score to a neutral-site contest with Columbia just 48 hours prior, the Royals found two solo longballs early to lead it by a single score until Arnette’s aforementioned triple flipped the lead back to the host.
– Queens left the yard four times in the opener, with a two-run shot by Olivia Thornton and one of Henson’s home runs putting them ahead 5-3 after five.
– The most pivotal moment of Game One came in PC’s inability to capitalize on that bases-loaded scenario, striking out twice and ending that sequence with a ground ball to second base.
– A sacrifice fly gave the Royals an extra insurance run, with Robinson taking the loss as the starter and lasting 4.1 innings.
Â
GAME TWO – Queens def. Presbyterian, 10-7 (8 Innings)
Â
– Chaos was the moral of the story in the second half of the doubleheader, with PC scattering six total runs in consecutive innings only for Queens to come clawing back and force extra’s.
– Robinson’s second double of the year put Presbyterian on the board after allowing two early scores, with a base hit by Darby making it two-all.
– The Blue Hose teed off on Queens starter Kooper Barnes in the 4th, increasing the advantage on a walk with the bases juiced, a couple of knocks by Robinson and Morgan Farthing, and a fielder’s choice from Darby that brought in Cierra Grice.
– Cierra’s sister Logan notched her first home run since 2024 in the 5th to push the lead to 7-3, although the mood switched in a blink after Henson hit the game-tying grand slam.
– Sophomore Kylie Rast threw the first five innings before then returning to the game in the 7th. She ultimately threw 136 pitches as the Royals went on to win it with a three-spot in extra’s.
– Reliever Izzy Lawrence took the W for Queens after giving up a single run (Grice’s homer) over four innings of work.
