A townhouse in Brooklyn, New York, is up for sale for $9,375,000 and boasts many impressive and appealing selling factors but it’s an unexpected feature in the basement that’s got people saying they’d “never” want to leave. Known as the Pfizer Mansion, this historic home at 280 Washington Avenue in Clinton Hill is turning heads with its unique charm.
Brooklyn is a bustling borough known for its rich culture, lively nightlife, diverse entertainment options, art galleries, festivals, and more. With iconic attractions like Prospect Park and Coney Island, there’s never a shortage of things to do. The live music and theater scene is also a major draw, while the wide variety of restaurants makes Brooklyn a paradise for food lovers.
It’s easy to see why this borough is so appealing to so many – and a recent listing of the Pfizer Mansion has certainly caught people’s attention.
Built in 1887 on a double lot, this impressive townhouse features traditional, historic elements that have been carefully restored and updated to meet the needs of modern living. The mansion was commissioned by Pfizer co-founder Charles Erhart and designed by architect Marshall J. Morrill.
Before its extensive modern renovation, the property served as a Brooklyn Public Library annex and a Catholic girls’ school. Now, it’s a “stunning”, multi-story home with seven bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and several half baths, spanning around 10,000 square feet.
The Queen Anne-style residence also boasts restored plaster moldings and stained glass throughout, which enhances its character and charm, along with eight fireplaces and a functioning Otis elevator.
On the lower level, there’s an additional surprise – a sunken “speakeasy” style entertainment area, complete with a bar and grand chandelier. There’s even a climate-controlled wine cellar.
A video walkthrough of the property was posted on TikTok by real estate content creator Levi Pinson, who simply wrote: “Brooklyn Mansion On Oversized 200′ Lot!”

Someone else noted: “That en-suite bathroom is unbelievable. These people have TASTE.”
While one person said: “This is STUNNING!! My jaw just kept dropping”.
And another joked: “I’m better off being ignorant to the fact that places like this exist”.
