Behind Molly Guzik’s four goals, No. 15 Syracuse women’s lacrosse (4-3, 3-2 ACC) extended its winning streak to four games with a 13-3 win over Virginia Tech (4-4, 1-3 ACC) at the JMA Wireless Dome on Friday night.

Ashlee Volpe joined Guzik with four points, posting two goals and two assists. Emma Muchnick and Caroline Trinkaus also logged multiple goals, each scoring two.

The Orange held the Hokies to just three goals, the second consecutive game the defense has done so. Coco Vandiver and Izzy Lahah each had three caused turnovers, contributing to 11 total for Syracuse.

The Orange wasted no time building a lead, scoring three goals in under three minutes. Muchnick broke the ice one minute in before Guzik got on the board with two goals in the span of 56 seconds. The Hokies got one back but Trinkaus answered with a goal to give Syracuse a 4-1 lead after 15 minutes.

Guzik kept it going, scoring less than two minutes into the second quarter to give her a hat trick for the third time in four games. She added her fourth goal on a hidden ball trick in the waning moments of the half. Volpe faked a handoff to misdirect the defense before passing behind the cage and finding Guzik cutting to the net for the goal. The Orange scored four goals in the second, giving them an 8-1 lead heading to the break.

Muchnick got the scoring started in the second half, capitalizing on a player-up opportunity. Trinkaus scored on a free position moments later before Volpe found the back of the net to extend the lead to 11-1.

The Orange tacked on a couple more in the fourth quarter, with sisters Ava Peers and Ella Peers scoring the final two goals to give the Orange a 13-3 win. The goal was Ella’s first of her career and Ava’s first in a Syracuse uniform.

Syracuse will hit the road next week as they head to Chicago to take on No. 4 Northwestern on Thursday, March 12. First draw is set for 8 p.m. (EST) and will air on B1G+.
