In its first year eligible for the Division I men’s basketball tournament, Queens University, located in Charlotte, N.C., made the dance, winning the Atlantic Sun tournament with a 98-93 overtime win over Central Arkansas.
Queens guard Chris Ashby made 10 three-pointers in the game, scoring 34 points overall.
My take: Some early Madness. Central Arkansas went in as the top seed, and the Royals were third in the ASUN. The problem is that the Bears are now likely out of the NCAA tournament — a 21-12 overall record and lousy strength of schedule. Winning a low-level conference tourney is the only way in.
