JAY, N.Y. (WCAX) – The town of Jay has declared a local state of emergency due to safety threats from ice jams and potential flooding.
The state of emergency began Sunday morning, and will last for five days unless the town rescinds or extends it.
People in the area are asked to take care on all affected roads and obey road closures if they come up.
All town employees are asked to monitor the current conditions and be prepared to mitigate any effects from the storm and help offer shelter, food or any other necessities.
