Investigators say the incident happened as far-right activist Jake Long held an anti-Muslim protest outside the home of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, the city’s first Muslim mayor.

“Many of the counter protesters met this display of bigotry peacefully with a vision of the city welcoming to all, but a few did not,” Mamdani said.

“I want to commend the officers who were on site,” Mamdani continued. “They faced a chaotic situation that very quickly could’ve become far more dangerous.”

Mamdani said he was not home at the time, nor was his wife.

As for the two Bucks County men facing federal charges, officials say they’ll talk more in-depth about this case after the complaint has been unsealed.

They expect that to happen later on Monday.

Sources told ABC News the men told investigators they watch ISIS videos.

Police are working with federal prosecutors and the FBI, which has assigned agents with the bureau’s Joint Terrorism Task Force to the investigation.

The NYPD said another suspicious device found Sunday in a vehicle on East End Avenue between 81st and 82nd streets did not test for explosives.
