Good morning Gang Green Nation! Day one of the legal tampering period is in the books, and it was quite the whirlwind for the New York Jets. The day got off to an early start, with the Jets trading a seventh round pick in the 2026 NFL draft to the Miami Dolphins for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. The Jets then signed Fitzpatrick to a three year, $40 million extension. From there the Jets were off to the races. They signed safety Dane Belton, edges Joseph Assai and Kingsley Enagbare, defensive tackle David Onyemata and linebacker Demario Davis in short order. That’s six additions to the defense in one day. For a defense that lacked credible talent at every level, it was a much needed talent infusion.
On offense it was a different story. The Jets made no additions to the offense and lost guards John Simpson and Alijah Vera-Tucker to other teams. With glaring holes at quarterback, guard and wide receiver, the Jets still have plenty of work to do on the offense, while cornerback and pass rushing remain glaring holes on the defense. On special teams the Jets have a hole at kicker as Nick Folk signed elsewhere. The team is better today than it was a week ago, but there’s still plenty of work to do. Let’s see what the Jets can accomplish over the next few weeks leading up to the draft.
