Buckle up, NYC film fans. The NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) and Art House New York (AHNY) today announced the full lineup for the inaugural Art House Cinema Week New York, which was first announced last October. It’s stacked.

The initiative is a regional alliance in partnership with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, and is, per its official mission, “meant to strengthen independent film exhibition in New York City through audience development, research, and strategic initiatives.” For film fans, that means all manner of tricks and treats to get you back into your local cinema.

Its first big event: Art House Cinema Week New York, running March 20-26 at nearly 30 independent local theaters across the city (a full list is included below). The week will include affordable screenings, perks (including discounted memberships and concessions), and custom programming. MOME has also provided funding for 5,000 free tickets (redeemable at select theaters) to ensure all can participate.

You can see the full slate of programming right here, but some early highlights include discount pricing on programming, new memberships, and concessions across many theaters; a “Young Film Forum Archive Dive” screening introduced by Joel Coen and Frances McDormand; an IFC Center series dedicated to Catherine O’Hara; a Frederick Wiseman series at Roxy Cinema; and “Faust” with a live score at Nitehawk Williamsburg.

“This initiative reflects our vision for an inclusive creative economy that supports the people who make art, the people who experience it, and the venues that bring it to life. At a time when many New Yorkers and independent theaters are feeling the squeeze of the affordability crisis, we’re stepping in with a simple way to open doors and strengthen our creative ecosystem, said Rafael Espinal, commissioner, NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), in an official statement.

Added AHNY co-founder, Allason Leitz, “Cinema Week is a chance to celebrate the local, curated and community-oriented cinemas across our city that help New York feel like New York. We look forward to welcoming new and returning audiences and together making Cinema Week a reminder of why these spaces matter as a cultural cornerstone of New York City. Our cinemas’ unwavering commitment to gathering people in real life, around complex stories and collective discussion, is an essential element to the future of our city, democracy, and daily lives.”

Advance tickets are currently available for purchase to all, and additional information is available on the Art House New York website. And, with no advance registration required, eligible New Yorkers may attend screenings free of charge by presenting valid forms of identification at the box office. Those eligible groups include New York City teachers, CUNY students, United States active-duty military personnel and veterans, New York City families registered with “Cool Culture,” people with disabilities upon presentation of a reduced-fare OMNY card or Access-A-Ride ID, and SNAP/EBT cardholders.
