NEw YORK CITY — Legendary New York City anchor Ernie Anastos has died, according to several reports from the Big Apple.

Anastos was a well-known face on New York City TV and radio, going back to the 1970s. That includes time on WNYW, Channel 5, and WABC, Channel 7.

WABC reports he also worked at stations in Boston and Providence.

According to the New York State Broadcasters Association, Anastos also once owned a number of radio stations in the Capital Region and New England.

Anastos was 82 years old.
