The New York Giants bolster their running back room by selecting Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love with the No. 5 overall pick in CBS Sports’ latest three-round mock draft.

The Giants had three running backs receive significant carries in 2025. Tyrone Tracy Jr. led the group with 176 carries last season, followed by Devin Singletary (119). Cam Skattebo added 101 carries across eight games played, five of which he started.

CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards has the Giants adding a fourth running back to their ensemble by taking Love at No. 5 overall.

New York had been in competition for top running back free agents Travis Etienne Jr. and Kenneth Walker III but missed out. That suggests the Giants planned to use the No. 5 overall pick on a position other than running back, but it also shows they were willing to make a steep investment in the position. Do they adjust their plans to add what could be the best player available, who would also be an asset to young quarterback Jaxson Dart?

Love rushed for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2025 for Notre Dame, averaging an impressive 6.9 yards per attempt. He was a finalist for the 2025 Heisman Trophy, finishing third in the voting.

New York’s offensive backfield would gain a fourth running back regarded by many as not only the top prospect at his position but the best overall player in the 2026 NFL draft class in this mock draft.

In Round 2, Edwards has the Giants selecting Tennessee cornerback Colton Hood.
