This week on In Focus, Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester Executive Director Christina Thompson talks about how one in eight women are diagnosed in New York.
Thompson highlights the organization’s efforts in education, funding, research and advocacy, including supporting those with gynecologic cancers since 2014. She emphasizes the importance of environmental factors in breast cancer causation and celebrated recent legislation banning PFAs in menstrual products, which can elevate cancer risks. Thompson also advocats for the Beauty Justice Act to remove harmful chemicals from personal care products and the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act to expedite social security and Medicare access for affected individuals.
