STATEN ISLAND, NY — IlluminArt Productions will bring the world of Greek gods and monsters to life with “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical”.

The show, which is based on Rick Riordan’s bestselling children’s novel, will run from Oct. 25 through Nov. 2 at the On Your Mark Playhouse at 129 Clinton Ave in New Brighton.

This story, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary and has been previously translated to both television and movie screen, centers around teen New Yorker Percy Jackson, who discovers he’s the son of the god Poseidon. The audience will follow the new age demigod through an array of challenges and battles while exploring themes of identity, friendship, courage, and mythology.

“This story has meant so much to readers over the last twenty years,” said Director Justine Giachetti. “These stories have become more than an escape; they have become a mirror, helping countless kids and adults alike to see their challenges not as setbacks, but as strengths.”

The musical, which will star Randall Scott Carpenter as Percy Jackson, is part of IlluminArt Productions’ Theatre for Young Audiences Season, which offers professional, family-friendly productions to Staten Island audiences at low or no cost. The company focuses on empowering students of all ages to use the arts to address critical social issues and create conversations for positive change.

Tickets for this 80-minute, family-friendly show are available at www.onthestage.tickets/show/illuminart-production. Adult tickets are listed at $17.30, while young audience member tickets listed at $12.10.
