(WDBJ) – March 17, 1762
On this day in 1762, New York City held its first St. Patrick’s Day parade.
St. Patrick’s Day is an Irish and Irish-American holiday. It commemorates the death of (Saint) Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.
It’s also the time of year in American cities, for celebrating Irish heritage with a parade.
Gray Media, parent company of WDBJ7, is celebrating the upcoming 250th birthday of the United States of America with a year-long look at our country called “We the People”.
