The Great Neck South High School Music Department will present its 56th annual opera, “The Tales of Hoffmann” by Jacques Offenbach, on Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium at 341 Lakeville Road.
This popular opera will be performed in French with English supertitles, and singers will be accompanied by an orchestra of students and staff.
Offenbach’s drama places the title character, Hoffmann, in three fanciful stories of failed love, resulting in a grand and expressive 19th-century French opera. “The Tales of Hoffmann” is suitable for all ages.
The opera is under the musical direction of Dr. Janine Robinson, vocal music teacher; conducted by Michael Schwartz, instrumental music teacher and Performing ts department head; and directed by Alex Paul Sheerin.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 for students and children. South High School students may purchase tickets for $5. Tickets may be purchased in advance at cur8.com/26290/project/137372 or at the door on the night of the performance. Seating will be open for both performances.
