NEW YORK (WBNG) — Travelers headed to New York City from the Southern Tier now have more options via OurBus.
OurBus has expanded its service across upstate New York, adding routes along its Ithaca, Binghamton, and New York City corridor.
This expanded schedule includes up to eight daily departures between Ithaca and New York City, and two additional departures between Binghamton and New York City.
OurBus says the expanded service was necessary due to an increasing demand for bus options, especially among college communities.
“So the college students are a big portion of the ridership. In places like Binghamton, Ithaca, Cortland, Syracuse, there’s significant college populations. And they’re the ones filling the bus most of the time between August and May. So just because we were filling up the buses in that season is one of the reasons why we added the buses, the students will travel home for the holidays or just for a weekend visiting home,” said Alex Hellman, co-founder of OurBus.
Hellman said that bookings have increased significantly.
In addition to daily trips to Manhattan, OurBus offers direct routes from Cornell and Binghamton University to Newark and JFK airports during peak travel periods such as Thanksgiving and spring break.
OurBus also offers service from Niagara to NYC, with stations in Niagara, Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse.
