A man died after he struck a tree on Route 44 in Pomfret in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Connecticut State Police said.

William Horton Enright, of Brooklyn, was driving east on Route 44 around 1:10 a.m. when he “failed to negotiate
a curve, traveled off the roadway and struck a tree,” according to state police.

The 39-year-old sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead by paramedics on the scene, police said.

The collision is still under investigation, according to police.
