Seen & Heard: Lightning on One World Trade

LIGHTNING STRIKING AGAIN
Morgan Gamblin caught this video of lightning hitting hitting One World Trade at midnight last week. Amazing. Guess those lightning rods really work! (We call the spire the Elder Wand in our fam, for all you HP fans.)

BENCH DOWN
I have gotten several complaints about the bench outside Washington Market Park on Greenwich that succumbed to the snow storms — even one from a reader who checked with the Department of Transportation and as told that it is “outside New York City’s jurisdiction.” But it turns out the Parks Department inherited these 1980s beauties from what I think was the Greening of Greenwich. Now the trick is getting it out of here — not simple. They are working on it.

AMERICA’S CULINARY CUP IS HERE
B. noticed the exterior shot for the TV show “America’s Culinary Cup” was 140 Franklin, on the northwest corner with Varick. The cook-off was created by Padma Lakshmi, judged by chefs Michael Cimarusti and Wylie Dufresne, and includes HUSO chef Buddha Lo as a contestant.

FBI STING ON NORTH MOORE
R. caught this video from his window — kind of cool to see a bit of Hollywood play out from above.
