The New York City Marathon is just two weeks away, and runners are preparing to complete 26.2 miles around the city

The New York City Marathon is just two weeks away, and runners are gearing up to complete 26.2 miles around the city.
Thousands of runners will take to the streets of New York on Sunday, Nov. 2, to participate in the largest marathon in the world. Last year, 55,642 people finished the race, representing 137 countries around the globe.
Not only will there be runners out on the roads, but thousands of spectators will pack around the path to cheer on their friends, family and strangers. If you want to be one of those people, here’s the New York City Marathon route.

The race will start in Staten Island, where runners will begin on a staggered start depending on past race times, according to New York Road Runners. The start times include:
8:00 a.m. Men’s Professional Wheelchair Division8:02 a.m. Women’s Professional Wheelchair Division8:22 a.m. Handcycle Category and Select Athletes with Disabilities8:35 a.m. Professional Women’s Open Division9:05 a.m. Professional Men’s Open Division9:10 a.m. Wave 19:45 a.m. Wave 210:20 a.m. Wave 310:55 a.m. Wave 411:30 a.m. Wave 5

The runners will cross the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge into Brooklyn, traveling from Dyker Heights up through Bay Ridge and Sunset Park and past Park Slope and Clinton Hill.
They will hit mile 10 in Williamsburg, and by the time they reach Greenpoint, the runners will have already completed a half-marathon, which is 13.1 miles.
After that, the runners will run about two miles in Queens, before crossing the Queensboro Bridge into Manhattan. Then, runners will continue traveling uptown into The Bronx, where they will hit Mile 20.

They’ll run about 1 mile in The Bronx, before crossing back into Harlem and down Fifth Avenue to Central Park. The final four miles of the race will be throughout Central Park, finishing at West 77th Street. When the runners cross the finish line, MarathonFoto will be there to snag their picture.
NYRR reports there will be portable bathrooms located at every three miles, as well as medical aid stations, which will be equipped with medical volunteers and supplies.
Purified water and Gatorade will be available at official fluid stations every mile from mile 3 to mile 25, except miles 5, 7, and 9.
