JERSEY CITY, NJ — A report of a woman in danger in Jersey City Heights led to a chase through New Jersey into Brooklyn, according to officials.
A Jersey City public safety spokesperson said Friday that shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, police were sent to Hobson Street after a woman called and said she was in danger.
As police headed to the city’s Heights neighborhood, they were informed that the caller was in a moving vehicle, said public safety spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione.
The car was tracked through Newark, Irvington, and Elizabeth, she said.
It then crossed the Goethals Bridge, headed to Brooklyn, and was located on the Belt Parkway.
A suspect is being detained in Brooklyn, Wallace-Scacione said.
ABC reported that the man crashed into multiple vehicles and was taken into custody in connection with a domestic incident.
While New York news outlets reported that the woman was kidnapped in Hoboken, Hoboken officials said the incident did not take place there. Jersey City Heights is just west of Hoboken on the Palisade cliffs.
Patch has reached out to officials for more information and will update this story when more is available.
