MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — During the week of March 12-18, there were 630 calls for service in Manhattan Beach, with eight arrests being made, police data show.
Sixteen traffic collisions were reported and 39 reports were taken during the week, data show.
Six thefts were reported, all of which came from the area between Sepulveda Boulevard and Valley Drive/Ardmore Avenue.
Also reported: three assaults, two auto thefts, one robbery and a vandalism case.
Police responded to the Barnes and Noble at 1800 Rosecrans Ave twice during the week: the first was at 4 pm on March 17 regarding a theft that had just occurred.
“Two subjects entered the store, concealed various books and pens, passed all manned registers, and exited the store with the unpaid items, an MBPD report states. “Suspects fled the scene with the loss and were not located. Total loss was approximately $300 in books and pens.”
Three hours later, police responded to the bookstore again for another theft call.
“One subject entered the store, concealed various books, passed all manned registers without attempting to pay, and exited the store with the unpaid items,” a report states. “The suspect fled the scene with the loss and was not located. Total loss was approximately $50 in books.”
Also at 7 pm on March 17, a Target at 1200 N. Sepulveda Blvd. reported a massive shoplifting attempt.
