ST. LOUIS (WISH) — No. 2 seed Purdue heads into halftime leading No. 15 seed Queens, 45-33, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Braden Smith broke the NCAA all-time assist record in the first half with a bounce pass on a pick-and-roll with Trey-Kaufman Renn.
The Boilermakers never trailed in the first half and made their first six shots of the game.
Smith leads Purdue with 15 points. He also had five assists. Kaufman-Renn is also already in double figures with 10 points.
The Boilermakers shot 60% from the field and 50% from three in the first half.
