The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Rhinebeck (BCI) announced the arrest of Daniel R. Anderson, 44, of Red Hook, New York, for Falsely Reporting an Incident in the 3rd degree, a class A misdemeanor.
The investigation determined that a New York State Trooper was attempting to interview Anderson at his residence regarding an unrelated incident when Anderson began filming the Trooper and directing him to leave the property. Anderson subsequently captured a still image from the video, digitally altered it to conceal the Trooper’s uniform, and posted it in a local community Facebook group with a caption accusing him of perversion and voyeurism.
The post caused public alarm and inconvenience to the Trooper and the Trooper’s family.
Anderson was taken into custody on an arrest warrant issued by the Town of Red Hook Court. He was later issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Red Hook Court on March 26, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
