Power has been restored to thousands of Maritime Electric customers in multiple communities across Queens County after an outage without power earlier Saturday.

More than 6,000 customers were without power earlier in the day, according to the Maritime Electric outage map.

The utility said in a Facebook post Saturday morning it had identified the cause of the outage affecting customers in Clyde River, Rice Point, Canoe Cove, Emyvale, Riverdale, Kingston and surrounding areas. Power was back on by early afternoon.
