CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Jacksonville Baseball fell 4-3 in the series finale versus Queens, after a three-run walk-off HR from the Royals’ Bradley Brown.Â
With the loss, the Dolphins drop their second ASUN series of the season, bringing their conference record to 2-4Â and their overall ledger to 11-13.
Ninth Inning
A 1-1 ballgame heading into the ninth, Archer Ogbourne led the Dolphins off with an infield single, followed by a Roger Vergara double down the left field line.
With runners on the corners, redshirt freshman Cade Walter broke through when he barreled a double into the right field gap, plating two and giving Jacksonville a 3-1 advantage headed into the bottom of the ninth.Â
After two Royals reached on a HBP and walk, Queens’ Bradley Brown hit a three-run walk-off home run to win the game.Â
Despite the loss, lefty Brendan Holland had a stellar day on the mound. The senior pitched six complete innings and struck out eight, including the side in the fourth. His eight punch-outs are a season high and three shy of a career record.Â
How It HappenedÂ
JU threatened in the second and third innings but ultimately left two runners stranded in both frames.
